ALEX JONES

My name is Alex Jones. I am 16 years old and a sophomore at Miami Palmetto Senior High. Ever since I can remember, I have been an involved member of my jewish community. Since I was in 7th grade, I’ve been a volunteer at the Friendship Circle. I currently serve on the Presidents council there which means that I help behind the scenes to plan programs, engage volunteers, and make sure everything runs smoothly. I also am being confirmed at my temple Temple Beth Am where I also participate in the weekly youth group, BAFTY.

From this amazing experience, I hope to improve my leadership skills and form a close relationship with the Jewish homeland of Israel. I aspire to gain an even more personal connection to Judaism through Diller. I can already see myself becoming even more prideful of being a Jew. Diller is so much different from other available opportunities because it allows teens like myself to interactively dig deep into their Jewish identities. The skills that I am learning will stay with me throughout my lifetime. I’m so excited to learn more about my religion as well as build long lasting international friendships.
